When doing permanent makeup procedures, clients tend to focus more on the result of it rather than the healing process of it. They tend to get excited over their newly done, nano-bladed brows or bright, luscious lips from their lip blushing session. But, they overlook the not-so-pretty aspect of the procedure, the healing process. We’re here to explain what you might expect when healing after a permanent makeup service.
Color Oxidation
No matter which service you choose to have done for you, the healing process always entails the darkening of color. The color often appears intense and very pigmented. As you undergo the healing process, the color will lighten, and then scabbing and flaking usually occurs.
Scabbing
Like any other tattoo service, permanent makeup results in scabbing. How long scabbing lasts depends on the person. We ask our clients to not pick at their scabs and leave them alone. If you pick at the scab, you can lose ink and create scarring.

The healing process for lips is slightly similar. Here’s another infographic to help describe the healing process:
Touchup
After your initial appointment, it is suggested to book a 6-12 week touchup so extra pigmentation can be added. We suggest this due to the fact that color from your initial appointment can fade and appear lighter. Or you can wait longer and book a touchup after a couple of months if you’re satisfied with the pigmentation you have.
